Non-sparkling! Not emo! Not a 400 year old angsty teenager. I feel nothing but complete joy at seeing a ’70s vampire.

The series has a gift for capturing the monsterous on film. It weirds me out, no matter how many times I’ve seen it. The shot of the spasming hands clawing their way out of the dirt at the start of the episode is, for me, fantastically creepy. Simon enjoyed this episode! LA police have arrested two members of a coven and believe that they are stealing the blood for ritualistic practices. The police hold a press conference, at the scene of the double-murder, and Kolchak makes the usual pain of himself. He meets the guru’s realtor, who has spent time talking with the guru and convinces her to write his article – which he continues to investigate the story that interests him. Visiting the guru, he finds that he is gone, and so is the story he is supposed to file. The police stonewall Kolchak, but it apparent that he hits a nerve when he suggests the victim was drained of blood. A man was killed, and the windows of his car were taped black on the inside.

Skipping his interview with the guru, Kolchak drives to Barstow where the most recent murder he knows about occurred.
